For some unassuming breakfast food in a quaint diner, look no further than Kearsley Creek. The food here is definitely homestyle. From the club sandwich to the Hawaiian omelette, it’s cooked to perfection. Perhaps the fact that the owner is still the head chef has something to do with it. So expect a very familiar ambiance at Kearsley, and if you become a regular, you’ll be awarded your own coffee mug with your name on it.
John’s Steak House & Pizzeria
8038 S State Rd. Goodrich, MI 48438
(810) 636-2175
It isn’t too often you see a steak house and a pizzeria at the same location. But John’s Steak House is a special place. The breadsticks are one of the most popular things on the menu, especially with their cream cheese spread. Although there’s ten or so speciality pizzas, most customers opt for the personal pizza with up to 9 toppings. But if you hate decisions, go with the chicken Alfredo pizza if you’re into Italian.
Cranberries Cafe
10250 Hegel Rd. Goodrich, MI 48438
(810) 636-3409
While Kearsley has the at-home feel, Cranberries focus more on healthy options and unqie dishes. Their signature is the Cranberry Spinach Salad, topped with green apples, cranberries, mandarin oranges and red onions. Another speciality, the Bleu Cheese Chips are the perfect appetizer. Start with homemade potato chips, top them with delectable bleu cheese and end with sprinkled green onions. Thanks to the full bar and upscale seating, the ambiance here is surprisingly classy for a cafe.
Tom’s Coney Cafe
8157 S State Rd. Goodrich, MI 48438
(810) 636-2390
Whereas Cranberries is an upscale cafe, Tom’s Coney Cafe is a quaint old-fashioned American diner. The interior of this place is very reminiscent of the 1950s. From the beautiful blue and white tiles that adorn the walls to the countertop bar, this place is classic Americana. They offer specials every weekday, so be on the lookout for the specials board. While the coneys are out of this world, their menu is full of other options like some killer omelettes and rich desserts.
Smokin’ J’s Bar B Que Pit
10230 Hegel Rd. Goodrich, MI 48438
(810) 636-9200
You cannot and will not find a better BBQ place in Goodrich than Smoking’ J’s. Although they’re a new addition to the town, the food fits in here perfectly. The ribs are to die for, and they’re priced pretty decently as well. Of course, they have BBQ standards like an excellent pulled pork sandwich and an ethereal beef brisket. But even the hamburgers are world class at Smoking’ J’s. If you’re a bleu cheese fan, the Black and Blue Burger will not let you down.

Not too greasy, not too spicy and with incredibly fresh vegetables, they’re a must for newcomers. There’s also a pool table and live music on the weekends, making this place a hotspot for partiers in Goodrich.
